I'm an accredited Family Law specialist and the founder of Bespoke Family Lawyers.

I help people to uncouple legally, financially and mindfully from their relationship so they can rebuild and move forward into their next chapter.

When it comes to creating a parenting partnership with your Ex,  I've discovered that the best approach is when both parents can create a personalised plan that suits everyone involved

The Parenting Plan you're putting into action now is about providing a clear and supportive framework for day-to-day arrangements, holidays, and special occasions. It's setting healthy communication boundaries between you, your Ex, and your children.

So let's keep it simple.  The goal is to create an easy-to-use parenting plan that you and your Ex can implement with minimal conflict or confusion. My wish for you is to bring a sense of security and peace to both you and your kids. We'll cover everything from the big decisions to the tiniest details, all with a mindful and thoughtful approach that minimises conflict and stress.

Together, we'll embark on a journey towards certainty, equipping you with the tools you need to rebuild and embrace your next chapter. I'll be right here by your side, supporting you every step of the way.

A DIY parenting plan to cover all necessary aspects, taking away the need for constant adjustments or negotiations

It's important to acknowledge that every situation is unique, and the challenges faced by each person may vary.

Maybe you're experiencing on or more of the these things right now:

A range of intense emotions such as anger, sadness, grief and resentment while trying to make practical decisions. I understand how this can be emotionally draining and difficult.

Differences in communication styles or lack of trust in reaching agreements and maintaining open lines

of communication. We cover this in the Parenting Plan.

Balancing different approaches to your own and your Ex's parenting styles, beliefs, and preferences and finding common ground when attempting to co-parent after a separation. We cover this in the Parenting Plan.

Managing the logistics of creating a parenting arrangement or schedule,  coordinating school activities, extra-curriculars, and holidays that works for both parents and ensures your children's wellbeing. Finding a balance can be overwhelming but with careful planning together, your family can blossom and grow!

Fear of the unknown, resistance to letting go of the past, adjusting to new routines. Accepting and adapting to the changes that come with separation and co-parenting. I understand redefining the relationship with your Ex takes time, that's why a Parenting Plan can help effectively support you to co-

parent and build a new life.

Good questions! Here's what I tell my clients...

A 'Parenting Plan' is a framework that formalises the day-to-day arrangements for your children as well as during holidays and special occasions. It will also help you both get clear on how to:

Make decisions about different aspects of your children's lives, care and wellbeing;

Communicate with your children when they are with the other parent;

Communicate with each other;

Deal with schooling, extra-curricular activities, healthcare, education and disputes when they arise.

And more...

It takes the hassle out of negotiating and recording the specifics of your children's care by carefully walking you through planning the arrangements for your children - both big and small - so you end up with a clear parenting and communication framework that you can share with your Ex.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can't I just make up a parenting plan with my Ex and just change as we go? There's other things we need to pay for right now.
We understand. You're going through so much right now. While we cannot give financial advice, we do encourage it is to be made an important family priority. Given our experience with separation, taking time to put together a mindful and considered plan with all the small details and big ones means you'll be able to think through solutions to minimise and possibly remove any ongoing conflict. This reduces stress and anxiety for you and your kids. Sorting out the big challenges now might also allow you both to avoid major legal costs further down the road.
  • What if my Ex doesn't agree with the parenting plan? I'm worried that discussing a parenting plan will lead to arguments.
Sick of conflict? Trying to avoid *yet another* heartbreaking conversation? Yep, we get it. But giving the parenting plan your everything is going to be worth it. This could just be the silver bullet to all of those distressing conversations you and your Ex keep having. Having a plan saves you months (or years) of organising and scheduling headaches. It gives your family a future of hope and peace of mind to move forward happily together.
  • What is the process of putting this plan together?
You'll need at least 2 hours of undisturbed time to process and plan (make sure you turn your phone to silent mode). You'll also need a cuppa and a pen to take notes as you move through the Workbook. In the video, I'll guide you step-by-step on what to do and how to complete the workbook. Just follow my voice, and you should have fairly completed the Parenting Plan in 2 hours.
  • Will it work for our situation?
Ideally, we believe all co-parents need a plan in existence. Without a parenting plan in place, separated parents don't have closure and even when parents are amicable, there is a degree of uncertainty and instability. This is an ongoing concern about what happens if something upsets or changes the amicable relationship. There will always be a need to sort out who has who, when and where during the course of the children's lives. This creates a state of uncertainty for both the children and parents. Having a plan that's fully customised to your family's unique needs puts everything down in black and white. It has to work, because it's a solution YOU personally created! Not a solution created by a legal team who hasn't walked in your shoes.
  • Do I need to focus on a parenting plan right now?
Putting a structured parenting plan in place can provide stability for children by establishing consistent routines and schedules, which can help them feel secure during the transition to their new family dynamic and 'new normal'.

I understand this is a challenging time for you, so while there is never a right time, giving you a sense of control and empowerment over your new family dynamic is going to minimise ongoing emotional stress, anxiety, and conflict, which can negatively further impact your mental health and wellbeing.

You may want to include a review in your Parenting Plan so you and your Ex can check-in to see if the arrangements are working for the kids. This Parenting Plan is designed to evolve as your children and family's needs change.

It's much like ripping off a bandaid: the lead-up is much worse than the actual event. Getting started today will see you arriving at a brighter future so much sooner.
  • I want to keep things flexible for our lifestyle.
A Parenting Plan isn't about locking you into a miserable routine that makes you feel trapped. It's about laying down boundaries that do the exact opposite - they give you freedom! Trying to exist in a murky grey area is much harder than in a well-defined routine.

It's important to remember that this is a fluid arrangement. Your Parenting Plan will likely look very different in a few years from now to reflect the changing ages, needs and interests of your children.

Regardless of how the parenting arrangements evolve over time, the purpose of the Parenting Plan will continue to be focused on creating a framework around how your children are taken care of.
  • I'm not sure if I trust my Ex to follow the parenting plan.
I'd love to know more. Let's chat! It helps to understand exactly what is happening inside your co-parenting situation so we can help guide you through next steps, and determine if the Parenting Plan is right for you! Reach out to our team here.
  • I have an amicable relationship with my Ex, so I don't believe I need a formal plan
Don't feel pressured to create a Parenting Plan - there is no one size fits all. If you think your family could benefit with a little more organised scheduling and structure, a Parenting Plan might help solidify what you already have in place so you both understand and know what to expect from each other.

We don't want to disrupt what you have both worked hard for as co-parents! The only thing I would add is to make sure to review the arrangement. We recommend that you and your Ex review your Parenting Plan every one to two years to ensure it is still meeting the needs of your children, and setting them up to thrive in the best way possible.
  • What if I change my mind after purchase?
Good question. There are no returns or refunds available. If you are unsure, we can help you to decide if the Parenting Plan is right for you! Reach out to our team here.
  • I have communication issues with my Ex, so I'm not sure if this will work for me?
This is a really common barrier - communication has almost completely collapsed between the partners, and the chances at a sit-down conversation are slim. We get it!

The great thing about this workbook is that it provides a beginning, a middle, and an end. There's no surprises, no emotional questions, and no blaming. You can both take time to review the questions and prepare your answers in advance.

It's also worth noting that the Parenting Plan template includes content on how to communicate with your Ex - or rather, how to communicate with each other. This Plan is to understand parent's goals, what's important to you and your family, your concerns, your needs and how you want to do life moving forward.

You and your Ex don't have to complete the Parenting Plan or Workbook together. You can firstly prepare the Parenting Plan based on what you think will work best for your children and then share what you have prepared with your Ex. Your Ex will then have the opportunity to review and provide input into the parenting plan before it is finalised.

Our goal is to help you create a sustainable parenting plan that works for you, your Ex and your children.

If you're still unsure, contact our team to discuss how you and your Ex currently communicate, and we can let you know if the Parenting Plan Package is right for you before you purchase it.
  • I think I'm going to need some extra help in figuring out our Parenting Plan
If you're feeling overwhelmed at the thought of doing this on your own, we're here to help. Whether you need personalised advice and guidance for your specific situation, or if you want someone to review your Parenting Plan, we've got you covered.

Book a 1-hour VIP call with the Bespoke Family Lawyers team, tailored to help you complete and fine-tune your Parenting Plan. During this call, we can assist you with various aspects such as formulating your day-to-day schedule, choosing the best options for holidays and special occasions, effective communication strategies with your Ex, addressing any concerns or issues, and providing solutions.

We'll address all your questions and worries to ensure you feel at ease. By the end of the call, you'll receive your completed Parenting Plan via email, ready to be shared with your Ex.

This VIP upgrade provides you with one-on-one guidance and support, personalised summary notes, and a substantial saving of $1,100+ for peace of mind.
  • When can I implement this?
As soon as the purchase is made, this complete customised Parenting Plan will be sent to you electronically by email from Bespoke Family Lawyers. In that email, you will find a link to download the word.doc Parenting Plan template together with a link to the guided video and a link to a pdf of the Workbook.
